Rainbow Magic Field Trips

Our field trips are designed to be engaging, educational, and hands-on while giving children the opportunity to connect with the animals and learn about farm life. We do have March 25th available from 9am -11:30 am.

We are able to accommodate up to 25 children per field trip. We require one school provided adult chaperone for every five children attending. Our farm will have two team members on staff to lead the tour and oversee the animal feeding portions of the visit. The entire field trip lasts approximately 90 minutes. The cost is $12 per child, and there is no charge for chaperones. We require a 50% deposit to secure the date. Deposits are refundable in the event you need to cancel as long as you cancel 24hours before your scheduled visit. All guests are welcome to visit and shop in the farm store during their time on the farm. We will provide a waiver that must be signed by each child’s parent or legal guardian prior to attending the field trip.

When you arrive, buses will park in the parking lot and children will unload. Once everyone is off the bus, the group will walk together to the main entrance in front of the south barn. We will begin our time there by reviewing the farm rules to ensure a safe and enjoyable visit for everyone.

After going over the rules, we will head to the north side of the farm. While we are not able to enter the fenced areas on the north side due to the livestock guardian dogs, we will walk along part of the perimeter to visit the pigs. As we make our way to the pigs, the alpacas in the north side pastures will be visible along the way. Please note that this portion of the walk may be muddy and includes brush and uneven ground.

At the pig pasture, children will have the opportunity to toss apples into the pasture for the pigs to eat. During this time, the tour guide will share about our pigs, why we have them, and offer some education about how we are turning our farm into a regenerative farm operation.

On the way back from visiting the pigs, we will stop near the south barn, also known as the main barn, to see the sheep in the pasture. The guide will share a little information about our sheep and their role on the farm.

We will then return to the front of the south barn where we began. At this time, there will be a brief fiber education lesson explaining why we raise alpacas. Children will be able to see and handle fiber samples in different stages so they can better understand the process. They will then enter pasture two to feed and pet the alpacas in pastures one and three. A table will also be set up with coloring sheets for children who would like to color. The guide will remain with the group to spend time together and answer questions about the alpacas and the farm.

Children are welcome to bring a snack and a water bottle. A very clean porta john is located in the parking lot for restroom use, and handwashing is available in pasture two at the south barn.
