Easter on the Alpaca Farm and the Last Time to See the Floof
Join us this Easter as we celebrate the joy of the season here on the farm. Easter is a time that reminds us of hope, renewal, and the promise of new life. Spring is unfolding all around us, and we are so grateful to steward this land and these animals during such a beautiful time of year.
We will have alpaca themed Easter coloring sheets for the children and plenty of opportunities to spend time with the herd. This will also be the last opportunity to see the alpacas in their full fleece before shearing day, which takes place the day after Easter.
Each year, alpacas grow a thick, luxurious fleece that keeps them warm through the winter months. As the weather begins to warm in the spring, that same fleece can become too heavy and hot for them. Shearing is an important part of their care. It keeps them comfortable, healthy, and able to regulate their body temperature through the summer. The process is safe and carefully done, and while it looks dramatic to see them go from fluffy to sleek in one day, it is truly for their well being.
The fleece we harvest is a gift. Alpaca fiber is soft, strong, and naturally insulating. It is used to create yarn, socks, hats, blankets, and many other beautiful products. We are always reminded during shearing that God provides abundantly. What grows quietly all winter becomes something that can bless others. There is something deeply meaningful about watching that transformation take place.
We would love for you to come celebrate Easter with us, enjoy the herd in their fullest floof, and share in this season of renewal. We are thankful for this community and for the opportunity to care for these animals in a way that honors the Lord and the land He has entrusted to us.
