Spend the day with Dr. Cheryl DeWitt, one of the foremost Camelid Reproductive Vets in the USA!

You will gain invaluable knowledge in the various aspects of breeding and birthing alpacas as well as hands-on training on manipulating a cria through the birth canal in the case of a dystocia. 

Dr. Dewitt will position a deceased cria (baby alpaca), in an artificial Uterus, in the various possible difficult birth positions. You will be able to practice various methods and techniques to determine the best way to help deliver the cria that is unable to be delivered naturally.

Dr. Cheryl DeWitt

Dr. DeWitt is a genuine Wolf Pack veterinarian! A graduate of NC State College of Veterinary Medicine,  she has worked with camelids for over 30 years.  Her practice in Ohio was a specialty camelid reproduction center offering diagnostics/treatment, breeding/birthing services, and boarding for over 100 animals. She served on the Large Animal Practitioner Board for 3 years, with The Ohio State School of Veterinary Medicine, and made several research trips to Peru, as one of the early members of the Nunoa Project, gaining unique experiences working with alpacas, llamas, and vicunas at altitudes well over 16,000ft.

Currently semi-retired, living on Martha’s Vineyard…continuing to service alpacas when needed, and volunteering many hours at a local dog rescue .

In the previous year, the proceeds from the silent auction were dedicated to backing camelid research and support initiatives in Argentina.
